I sought out help with a chronic condition I've always had which I had self-diagnose through support groups. DBR or Dysfunction of the Belch Reflex. The only reported options for treatment at the tine were Chicago, USA and Manchester/London UK. I had a very simple diagnosis with Mr Karagama at his new London offices which were fantastic. Then I got delayed by a switch in insurance providers and then by COVID but I finally managed to get the treatment.
Going into the procedure I was a little worried when the nurse asked if I had access to painkillers for recovery. I expected a little or no pain. In the end they were unnecessary and I had zero pain. I felt the effects of the treatment just about 8 hours after the procedure, with full effects in about 12 hours (next morning). Initial weeks were worrying as the effects were extreme and I found myself uncontrollably belching slightly with almost every breath - even seeming to breathe air into my oesophagus during inhale. Also my voice was often hoarse and gravelly as my throat adjusted. This affected my work slightly as I did. These effects wore off gradually over a month or two.
I am now in pretty much full control of my belch reflex and I haven't had any of the abdominal discomfort that has plagued me my entire life. Very happy and would highly recommend. I hope the condition is published and more widely accepted within the ENT community and dieticians who have always been falsely diagnosing this as IBS.

This treatment has been life saving for me. I am able to drink frizzy drinks without discomfort, and do not have the embarrassing flatulence or bloating that affected me prior to the treatment. Within the first week after the procedure I was able to burp and relieve pressure after meals, the has been a revolution.
I was very happy with Dr Karagama and my experience on the day of the treatment, and could not recommend the treatment enough to anyone who suffers from this condition.

My procedure with Mr Karagama has been life changing. I have visited many doctors over the years, trying to get a diagnosis for my symptoms. I was constantly bloated and uncomfortable and I spent many sleepless night with trapped wind wondering if I'd ever find out what was actually wrong with me. Dietary changes were made, dairy free, gluten free, carb free etc. but all to no avail. I began to dread eating and my life was literally unbearable. One day I was on holiday watching those around me enjoying food and alcohol and I noticed one thing that they all had in common, they could burp and I couldn't. After a little research I found out about Mr Karagama, after investigating my larynx he confirmed that I was a perfect candidate for his clinic. I have never looked back, I have benefited immensely from the relief of being able to burp. I can't thank Mr Karagama enough.
By the time I found Mr Karagama, other consultants had told me that I might have to give up hope of ever speaking properly again. I was also having difficulty swallowing and breathing. Mr Karagama told me immediately that was incorrect and I have options. He reviewed my progress and clearly explained the surgical options open to me. A month after my surgery and I can now talk again in groups and project volume which I simply couldn't do before. I have no trouble swallowing or breathing and sometimes even forget I ever had issues. Mr Karagama deserves all the praise that comes his way and I will never forget what he has done for me.
